For a leading international inspection and certification body, we are currently seeking an experienced


Mechanical & Electrical Site Inspector – Offshore Converter Platforms (m/f/d)


to support several large-scale offshore grid connection and HVDC converter platform projects, starting February 2026 with an estimated duration until August 2031.

This freelance role is site-based at a construction yard in Puerto Real, with 100% onsite attendance required until sail-away. Optional offshore activities in Northern Europe may follow depending on project requirements.

Responsibilities

As part of your role, you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:


  • Mechanical and electrical site supervision and inspections for offshore converter platform newbuilds
  • Execution of inspections in accordance with ITPs, including witness, hold and monitoring points
  • Surveillance of manufacturing, assembly, installation and commissioning activities
  • Review of technical documentation, as-built records and site documentation
  • Preparation of inspection, anomaly, progress, HSE and final site reports (incl. Dalux)
  • Identification, tracking and escalation of risks, deviations and non-conformities
  • Participation in site meetings, safety walks and coordination with project stakeholders

Requirements

  • Degree or qualification as Naval, Mechanical or Electrical Engineer
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar offshore, maritime or energy-related roles
  • Proven experience in mechanical and electrical inspections and site supervision
  • Authorisation covering outfitting, mechanical auxiliary, electrical auxiliary and secondary systems
  • Solid understanding of offshore construction processes and quality requirements
  • English and Spanish at B2 level; German is an advantage
  • Valid safety certifications (medical fitness, working at height, confined space, electrical work, e.g. ENG1, OGUK, EEMUA or equivalent)
  • Offshore safety training (e.g. GWO BST or equivalent) is an advantage.

  • Minimum Certification Requirements:
    • Valid offshore medical certificate (e.g. ENG1, OGUK, EEMUA or equivalent)
    • Working at Height certificate (e.g. GWO Working at Height or equivalent)
    • Confined Space certificate (e.g. GWO Confined Space or equivalent)
    • Electrical Safety / Electrical Working certificate (e.g. LV/MV Electrical Safety training or equivalent)
    • Pressure / Hydraulic Systems Safety certificate or equivalent training



  • Conditions:
    • All-in daily rate for freelancers: EUR 230 – 275 per day, based on an 8-hour working day
    • The daily rate is a lump-sum rate and includes all services as well as typical project-related expenses, including travel costs
    • Monthly invoicing based on approved timesheets
